Course Description

The Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Customer Service is primarily aimed at candidates who undertake a customer service roles and recognises that customer service involves a diverse range of functions that are constantly developing and changing.

  • Effective customer service
  • Supporting the customer service environment
  • Impression and image
  • Providing customer service within the rules
  • Handling problems
  • Development and improvement

The Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Customer Service is primarily aimed at candidates who undertake a customer service roles and recognises that customer service involves a diverse range of functions that are constantly developing and changing. It is suitable for candidates:
• Who have particular customer service and administrative job roles
• Who are working in a customer service environment
• Whose role is to provide service to customers

This apprenticeship covers

– Effective customer service
– Supporting the customer service environment
– Providing customer service within the rules

There are also optional units including:
– Impression and image
– Delivery
– Handling problems
– Development and improvement


There are no formal academic entry requirements or any prior qualification to do this course. You will undertake an initial assessment to determine the appropriate NVQ optional units and to ensure that they can achieve all elements of the apprenticeshipThe only requirements are as follows:

  • Must be aged 18
  • Be a UK resident for 3 years plus or
  • An EU national and EEA resident for 3 years plus or

Also In order to do an apprenticeship you must have an employer to support you. This qualification is designed for people who’re currently employed in a team leading or management role. You’ll need to lead a team of at least two colleagues, and already be working in a suitable role.


  • Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Team Leading
  • Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading Principles
  • Level 1 Functional Skills


The majority of the programme is assessed in the workplace. There will be a mixture of on and off-the-job training. You will also need to gather evidence to demonstrate your competence. You will be allocated a named assessor who will guide and support you throughout your Apprenticeship programme.


With additional training, intermediate apprentices may be able to progress to roles including middle and senior manager, department manager, head of department, or a wide range of managerial roles within business.


While working towards your Apprenticeship, you will also attend the College to complete an industry-recognised ILM qualification.


12-24 Months

  • – Manage or support equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusion in your area of responsibility
  • – Support team members in identifying, developing and implementing new ideas
  • – Manage conflict in a team
  • – Lead and manage meetings
  • – Participate in meetings
  • – Make effective decisions
